Som knedy säger kallas dylika avsmalnande strängar bl.a. för "taper wound", och det är en design som är särskilt vanligt på låga-B-strängar. Det du ser är således helt normalt.
Och nej, medium scale strängar passar troligen inte på en bas med 35":smensur. Medium scale är oftast detsamma som 32".
sidär, då stämde ju allt. Blev lite förvånad när just bara B-strängen var sådär för första gången för mig.

Har för mig att det ska förbättra intonationen på tjocka strängar. Och så brukar det nog pratas om bättre sustain och bättre ton i marknadsföringen. Om det stämmer kan man säkert diskutera.
